MIDDLE SCHOOL THEOLOGY-CONFIRMATION PREPARATION YEAR 2
7th-8th grades
God’s plan for our lives is AMAZING! Designed for middle school students preparing for confirmation, the goal of this course is for the students to be inspired and to inspire one another to dynamically live out their Catholic faith! In addition to supplementary materials, this theology course will be focusing on the second half of Chosen: Your Journey toward Confirmation from Ascension Press. Although this is a video-based program, we will not be spending our class time just watching videos! Class time will be used for reinforcement, discussion, inspiration, activities, learning games, and prayer time! During the year, the students will keep an interactive notebook of class materials.
This course is designed to be part of a two-year preparation course. Although this course is titled Year 2, it can be used for either the first year or second year of confirmation preparation; students may take Year 1 or Year 2 in any order.

HIGH SCHOOL THEOLOGY 1
9th-10th grades
As Catholic homeschoolers, we learn theology before we can even speak. So, why take another theology class? Because knowing God is an inexhaustible experience! For the fall semester, we will study The Bible: Our Salvation History. This semester-long course will help students understand the basics of Scripture and the structure of the Bible, all while studying the love story of God and His people.
In the spring, we will move on to one of the wonderful books from the Spirit of Truth High School Series by Sophia Press: Your Vocation in Christ. What is the difference between a little "v" vocation and a big "V" vocation? How can you start pursuing your vocation now, in high school? We will take a look at the good gifts God has already given us and how He has equipped us through our God-given personalities to be equipped for our life's calling.
The textbook for the spring will be provided as a part of the supply fee. Contact tutor for more information. Students can expect some light reading and writing every week.

Supply fee: $50 (includes textbook and handouts for the spring semester)

Church History: Faith Handed On by Kevin L. Hughes
Tutor: Christine Alcott, MTS
This is going to be the BEST year yet! We will focus on faith, virtue and prayer!
We will be combining the “Life of Christ: Lectio Divina” and the “Virtue Field Guide”to dive deeply and thoroughly into our faith. This is a double sided focus on growing our relationship with the Lord. We will surround ourselves with the inspired word of God. Participants will be using the Life of Christ journal Lectio Divina https://openlightmedia.com/product/life-of-christ-lectio-divina-journal/ as the core as we explore and meditate on the life of Christ. This beautiful journal combines scripture with journaling questions and sacred art (visio divina) to touch us deeply. The amazing Dominican sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist have created a wonderfully rich video series to accompany us on our journey. The videos that we will watch have commentaries about scripture as well as inspirational videos from religious, and non-religious to help us engage in the weekly scripture.
Secondarily, we will explore the virtues! What is a virtue? Which virtues have you already developed well? Where are you needing to focus in order to grow? We will start with a survey to find our virtue strengths and weaknesses. Then we will jump right in to expand our strengths and grow in the areas where it’s needed. https://openlightmedia.com/product/virtue-field-guide/

We will also make time to discuss ways to live our faith in an increasingly secular world. I love being able to go off the path to explore additional topics and ideas that come up during class. We have a GREAT core set up and from there we will dive deeper into other aspects of our faith.
Students will create a Saint/Eucharistic Miracle/Marian Apparition presentation as well as additional activities. There are no formal tests in this class but weekly reading is expected as well as class participation. (There are always options to tailor the class to fit individual needs.) The goal is to help students grow in their faith and learn ways to expand their relationship with God.
Monthly tuition: $25 per month for 9 months ($100 per semester after registration deposit)
Supply fee: $55 to cover books and additional expenses
Class size: minimum: 4, maximum 12
Required Materials: notebook to take notes while reading
